Pugilism support
Keep your hands up. We can help.
Pugilism is built to keep setup simple and the training focused. Most questions come down to a setting on the home screen, in Style, or in the options sheet.
Before you start
- Use the latest available version of the app.
- Clear your workout space so you can move in every direction.
- Pick a workout from the list on the home screen, and set the duration on the dial.
- Open Style to check the format, focus, level, tempo, and flow.
- Under Format, choose Rounds for timed rounds with rests, or Open for a single continuous session.
- Open the options button in the top corner of the home screen to set your stance, music, and coach.
If you cannot hear the coach
- In the options sheet, or from the pause menu during a session, check that Coach is set to On, and that Coach level is not at zero. If the How often slider is at zero, the coach only calls the countdown.
- Raise the device volume with the volume buttons during a session.
- The silent switch does not mute Pugilism. The app uses the iOS playback audio category, so workout audio is meant to play even when the ringer is silenced.
- If you are connected to AirPods, a speaker, or a car, check the output route in Control Center, or disconnect Bluetooth to test the phone speaker.
- Force-quit and reopen Pugilism, then try a short session.
If you cannot hear the music
- Music is a separate setting from the coach. In the options sheet, check that it is set to Resolve or Corner rather than Off, and that Music level is not at zero.
- The Spotify option is shown but deliberately disabled. It is marked "Coming soon" and is not available in this release.
If your setup looks wrong
Choose the workout you want again from the list on the home screen, then check Style and the options sheet. Pugilism saves your setup preferences locally on the device, so deleting and reinstalling the app clears those saved preferences and returns the app to its defaults.
